OVERVIEW

Bold geometric forms define the hotel fitness component for the final phase of Tangram’s multi-use development in Flushing, Queens, by F&T Group. Guiding the pool room’s ceiling design was a desire to marry form and function: the repeating fan shape was a nod to the project’s namesake but was equally driven by the challenges inherent in designing acoustic and lighting solutions for pool spaces. The resulting shapes conceal the lighting coves and shield users from staring at exposed lights, while the multiple planes and recesses provide space for acoustical material to break up echoing sound waves.
